Thallic nitrate, Tl(NO₃)₃

Thallic nitrate, Tl(NO₃)₃, is prepared by dissolving thallic oxide in nitric acid. It separates from an acid solution in large, colourless, transparent, deliquescent crystals which contain 3H₂O. The salt is readily hydrolysed by water, and is easily decomposed by heat.

The double salt potassium thallic nitrate, K₂Tl(NO₃)₅.H₂O, readily crystallises from a solution of the mixed nitrates in nitric acid (R. J. Meyer).
